The Colbert Report

Besides being addicted to the A & Es hit "Intervention" - I know ... ironic - I'm now totally obsessed with Stephen Colbert. So, as stalkers often do, I did my homework.

As the youngest of eleven children, Stephen wrote for the school's newspaper and dabbled in poetry.

Turns out Stephen studied acting at Northwestern and performed with The Second City comedy troupe in Chicago.

No way!

Tina Fey, see earlier blog posting, was also a member of the windy city famed comedy ensemble.

In 1996, Colbert served briefly as a writer for Saturday Night Live (NBC). During this time, Stephen was also a cast member and writer on The Dana Carvey Show (ABC).

In 1997, Colbert was a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central).

Stephen Colbert, as part of The Daily Show writing team, won an Emmy for "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Program" in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

In 2006, Colbert was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people that year.

For his work on The Colbert Report, he was also nominated for Emmy's, in 2006 and 2007, for "Outstanding Writing in a Variety, Music, or Comedy Program. "

In October 2007, he released his first book, I Am America (And So Can You!), a satirical autobiography about his life, co-written with several members of Colbert’s writing staff.

In 2008, the Colbert Report took an Emmy home for "Outstanding Writing in a Variety, Music, or Comedy Program."

Stephen, bring on the parody. Don't spare the satire. Leave no political pundit un-spoofed. You are my only respite from the mind-numbing political spin doctors.

Stephen Colbert you are a writer and you rock!
